So, we’re back to the tariff circus, with Trump’s latest declaration of tariffs against India. And that has – naturally – had quite the public domino effect geopolitically, increasing ties between India and Western opposition. And finally, over the last few weeks age and ID verification on the internet have become a major talking point after the United Kingdom began implementing its Online Safety Act.

So, increasingly its evident that President Trump’s first tool to hand is tariffs. But the geopolitical landmine he’s stepped on this time is more detrimental to US interests in the Indo-Pacific than earlier attempts at abrasiveness.

Before late July, it seemed as though India was reluctantly willing to find arrangements with the United States despite the ongoing threat of tariffs.
